The brunette stared out at the waking world as she gained her new starter Pokemon. Holding the Pokeball gingerly in her soft hands, she stared at the red and white spherical orb curiously. It was far from what she wanted, and nothing like what she was envisioning as her starter.
In some regions, she heard about starters being choices like the quadrupedal dinosaur-like plant Pokemon Bulbasaur, the bipedal blue turtle Pokemon Squirtle, or the bipedal orange lizard Charmander. Instead, she was given a choice between a purple rat, a daring grey and black bird, and a grey rhinoceros.
Riley began her journey slowly through the unknown forest. Gentle rays from the bright sun sliced it's way through the shadowy canopy above, casting their broken rays in long, odd shadows upon the forest floor below. She considered releasing the rhino Pokemon she had chosen as her starter for a second, before placing the ball back inside of her bag. I need to let him out... She thought to herself, with a gentle sigh. But I also need to get him acquainted to me, as well....

Today was a wonderfully chilly day. The air that gently sifted through the breeze, adding a slightly cold touch to the wind, made the day a rather pleasant one for winter. It was just starting to transform, slowly slipping into colder temperatures and thus chasing away the warmer blooded pokemon from their playful days, into rather slumbering solace for the winter months. However, several blue frog Pokemon were playing in the nearby river, splashing each other in a challenge. Unable to generate their own temperature, they relied on the cool waves and the warm sun to help elevate and decrease their body's temperature. One shook, chilly and starting to feel overwhelmed by the fluctuating degrees, as it's body dropped drastically low. The challenge was to see who would be the last one standing, to withstand the chilly splashes of the water's touch. The small Croagunk ran off, darting out just before the girl, and slammed into her leg. It backed up, shaking, and stared up at her before standing as if ready for a fight. What a day this was turning out to be, for the little frog. CROAGUNK APPEAREDWhat will you do?
